Arch Enemy

Arch Enemy founded 1996 by Mike Amoth of Carcass fame to merge melody with aggression and technicality.
The Debut Black Earth gained an following in Japan and "Bury Me An Angel" video got rotation on MTV the album had moderate succes in Sweden. The follow up Stigmata found audiences in Europe and Amerika. Burning Bridges showed a more melodic death metal approach.Arch Enemy slowly built up a fanbase, especially in Japan.
When the album wages of sin was released was it like a bomb went off. From the opening song's eerie eightiess horror movie intro melody to Ravenous infectious choruses, the was album imbued with magnificent guitar playing. The thing that stood out the most and made jaws drop was the new singer Angela Gossows growl. Many were shocked and did not believe a girl could growl.Angela delivers a vocal tirade that rivals any male vocalist
Anthem of Rebellion was more melodic than its predecessor and featured big singalong choruses as in We Will Rise. Doomsday Machine was a completely different beast. The metallic industrial sounds at the beginning and end of the songs hold together the album in an extraordinary way that creates a powerful listening concept. Doomsday Machine is an album to listen to from beginning to end to get the ultimate listening experience. The songs fit perfectly into each other from Nemesis, My Apocalypse Skelton Dance. Doomsday Machine is Arch Enemy's best album only Wages of Sin come close.

The speech from the albums title song "Rise of the Tyrant" is taken from the movie Caligula.Emperor of the Roman Empire
Caligula:I have existed from the morning of the world and I shall exist until the last star falls from the night.
Although I have taken the form of Gaius Caligula, I am all men as I am no man and therefore I am... a God.I shall wait for the unanimous decision of the senate, Claudius.
Claudius:All those who say aye, say aye.
Caligula:Aye... aye!
Senators:Aye! Aye! Aye!..
Guard:He's a god now...
The album lacked its predecessor's brilliance. However, there were good songs but they lack the feel and finesse from Doomsday Machine.Khaos Legion was a step in the right direction and contains a portion of Arch Enemy most melodic songs ever. The best on the album were 2 disc version's cover of KISS "The Oath" an utterly brilliant interpretation Arch Enemy should perform "The Oath" live.
